Who's Teaching
The Press Has Recognized Rita Homrich as a Behavior Modification Specialist
Who's Teaching? The
good new is..... "Raising a child can be a bewildering experience, especially in today's society, and parents do not automatically know how to be parents. Practical parenting skills usually must be learned, states Ms. Homrich." Ms. Homrich teaches positive parenting courses, Families of ADHD Children Empowerment Series (F.A.C.E.S.), Redirecting Children's Behavior (RCB), and Redirecting For A Cooperative Classroom (RCC) locally and in Israel in a workshop format. Ms. Homrich shared that during her last trip to Israel she taught 27 teachers in a residential alternative education academy in Netanya. These teachers learned that the same techniques that produce peace in international negotiations can work magic on relations between teachers and students. F.A.C.E.S. and RCB are a supportive courses that teach parenting skills in a warm group atmosphere. Participants are given more than 100 effective, empowering parenting tips in addition to learning how to resolve conflicts without power struggles, replace nagging, threats and bribes with positive messages, and allow children to solve their own problems while offering guidance when needed. They also learn how to make parenting more fun, work as a unified couple, or enhance single parenting. The philosophy of F.A.C.E.S., RCB, and RCC is based on the teachings of Alfred Adler and Rudolph Dreikurs. Many people have reported that strategies learned in the RCB and F.A.C.E.S. courses have worked for them in interacting with spouses and co-workers as well. The course effectively teaches people how to redirect the human behavior of all ages. This replaces confrontation with conciliation, making everyone happier. Teachers, nurses, psychotherapists, social workers, and others working in the child care field often take RCB to further their professional development for the course offers 15 continuing education credits. Ms. Homrich is well known for her work with parenting ADHD children through F.A.C.E.S., Redirecting Children's Behavior (RCB), and Redirecting for a Cooperative Classroom (RCC) since 1990. Ms. Homrich also writes a Tools for Tired Parents guest column for the Happy Times Monthly where parents can write her regarding their parenting problems. She is a frequent parenting expert on Liz Sterling's InnerViews radio on-air talk magazine and is also known for her "Tools For Tired Parents" parenting segment on WWNN. She is a long time resident of South Florida, a mother of three daughters, and a graduate of Barry University. Ms. Homrich can be reached at her e-mail address.
